sampler4Here are several beer-related stories, including many involving Ohio breweries:

-- The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports on the upcoming Winter Warmer Fest and the decision by the I-X Center to retool the International Beer Fest and combined it with the Fabulous Food Show in the fall. "We originally set out to launch the largest beer fest in the Midwest," Jeremy Levine, director of events for the center, told the newspaper. "We accomplished that goal, but not without sacrifice. In lieu of producing three separate events, we decided . . . we needed to focus the event, to celebrate the culinary arts." To read the full story, click here.

-- WKYC-TV (Channel 3) in Cleveland reported on Akron's Hoppin' Frog Brewery, which recently was named the 17th best brewery in the world by Ratebeer.com. To watch the video, click here.

-- The Boston Globe has a story about Boston Beer Co. finally deciding to put its beer in a can -- a project dubbed Bunker Hill. “We thought Jim [Koch] would eventually change his mind and he’d just come around,” Jay Billings, director of innovation and marketing for Ball, a Colorado canning company that packages Oskar Blues and 150 other craft brewers’ products, told the newspaper. -- The Missoulian newspaper reports on a man who is selling his beer can collection, which he started collecting in 1978 and now numbers 1,000. “I just don’t have anywhere to display them,” Ralph Burns told the newspaper. “Some I don’t want to get rid of, but when you got 40 boxes ...” To read the full story, click here.
