LAS VEGAS: Miss New York Mallory Hytes Hagan was crowned Miss America 2013 on Saturday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
The honor carries with it a $50,000 scholarship and a yearlong run as an advocate and role model.
Rounding out the top five finalists, in order of finish, were Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers, Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden, and Miss Iowa Mariah Cary, who has Tourette’s syndrome.
The round of 16 semifinalists included the fan-voted selection of Miss Montana Alexis Wineman, the first competitor with autism.
Miss Ohio Elissa McCracken of Ada was eliminated in the first round.
