Portside Distillery, a new micro-distillery and brewery in downtown Cleveland, hopes to open within the next two weeks.

Portside recently distilled its first batch of white rum and is just waiting for final state approval to open its tasting room and gift shop, co-owner Dan Malz said in an email. "We are currently working on the recipe for our spiced rum and should have that out before the end of the year," he said.

Portside -- which says it will be the first micro-distiller in the city -- expects to start brewing this week and have beer available in three weeks. The photo above shows Malz and John Marek with the still.
