Yuengling Premium, Light still expected in Ohio

yuenglingD.G. Yuengling & Son made quite a splash when it started distributing in Ohio in late 2011. America's oldest brewery -- and the largest American-owned brewery -- rolled out Yuengling Traditional Lager, Yuengling Light Lager and Yuengling Original Black & Tan to great fanfare. Yuengling Porter and Lord Chesterfield Ale arrived a little later. Yuengling Bock and even a seasonal Oktoberfest hit the state.

But there are two beers in the Yuengling portfolio that have yet to arrive in Ohio. And loyal Yuengling fans are wondering when Yuengling Premium and Yuengling Light will be here. The brewery previously had indicated those brews would be distributed in Ohio starting around August 2012.

Never fear, the brewery says, Premium and Light are still expected to be sold here. It's just not clear when.

"Yuengling Premium is primarily a regional favorite, with the vast majority of the product being sold in Pennsylvania," spokesman Lou Romano said in an email. "It's our expectation that Premium will be offered in Ohio, although no specific timeline has been set in stone.

"We typically lead with our Lager, Light Lager and Black & Tan, allowing them time to develop before Premium (and Premium Light) are introduced in a new state."
